This statue is a museum quality late-18th Century Shan Buddha. The lines and features are a lot more refined compared to other Shan Buddhas that I am or will offer on ebay.
The bottom is open and the typical dark cement can be seen. Shan Buddha statues—and many Southeast Asian bronze statues—are often filled with a dark, cement-like substance, which is historically a mixture of resin, clay, ash, and sometimes sacred materials. This filling serves practical, structural, and symbolic purposes.
It has a gorgeous coloring and the detail is distinctive. Outstanding condition. 7.75″ tall x 4.5″ widest at base. For the Serious Collector.
