I commissioned some of these bowls in the early 2000s from Tasmanian  artisans. Because of the oil, this wood was used for years in shipbuilding because the oil makes the wood resistant to most marine organisms.

The artisans have special licenses to harvest rainforest logs that have been submerged in rivers for many years.  Huon Pine is now on the endangered species list.

Rich grain from wood that dates back thousands of years.  The pleasant smell of these bowls are wonderful.

Signed my the artist:  Michael Jones.   13″ at longest point x 9″ at widest point x 1.5″ tall.  Truly one-of-a-kind.
