This bowl is made out of exotic rainforest Huon Pine but, soft but extremely tough wood that dates back thousands of years in Tasmania.

Among other applications, this wood was used for shipbuilding for years. It contains an oil that is resistant to most marine organisms. Now it is an endangered wood. My source harvests logs that have been submerged in rivers for many years.

A group of artisans carve and finish them to give this look. I commissioned some bowl in early 2000 from this group of  artisans in Tasmania.  This is one of them, signed by the artist to made it.

These bowls have a pleasant smell that stays  fragrant.  New and unused.  10.5″ wide x 8″ deep x 2.5″ tall.
