This is excellent craftsmanship of the terracotta art from the Majapahit Empire of east Java (dating back to the 14th Century). This was the last of the major Hindu empires of the Malay Archipelago. The hair is worn on the side. Decorations around the ear and the lobes. This statue is in excellent shape.
Purchased from an art dealer in Hawaii who bought it in the 1960s in a gallery/antique shop outside Yogyakarta. He vouches for its hand-crafted authenticity and the fact it is at least 150+ years old. Based on my own research it is likely from the mid-1800s. Wood base is newer and included.
