Standing male protective figure from the Murik Lakes, North Coast, Lower Sepik River.  Represents an early culture hero from the time of creation.  Great detail.  This “Spirit Hero” is in complete ceremonial costume.

From the private collection of a “true” adventurer and expert on New Guinea culture.  Acquired in 2000. Stand not included.  Museum quality condition.  16.5″ tall x 2.5″ at widest.  Circa 1950s.
