I have done a bit of research on these and THEY ARE VERY RARE. I acquired them from an estate auction in Los Angeles in the late 1980s. The family had collected rare, esoteric, and unique items from China for over 40 years . . . and most likely spent a great deal of time there during that time.
The photos say everything. I have had these in my personal collection for over 40 years and have always found them intriguing. Great patina and in good condition for age. Some flaking and deterioration on some edges of the block bases.
You will NEVER, EVER find these bookends again. Circa 1900. Other stands not included. 6.26″ tall on 4.25″ x 5.25 wood bases.
